Well, I just made my poo inspection, and things are almost back to normal in that department. He's still not preening his bottom covert feathers properly on his wings and his back, and he still smells a little of cheese croissant.
I know that sounds mad, but I'm thinking he might smell different because he's not preening all of himself properly.

Glad his poo is normal Stace. Fingers and wings crossed he's okay now. Wot - no poo photo?

Isn't it funny how poop inspections are so important. I am sure my guys would be humiliated if they knew I checked their bottoms every morning, so I try to be discreet. I'm happy that Boo is getting better every day.

Well, the poops are back to normal and he's happy, chatty and buzzing around again, but he's still not preened his back feathers properly and the slightly buttery smell remains. Hmmmm....curious.

After all this time, his covert feathers are finally back tidily in place and the buttery cheese croissant smell has gone. It has taken a while.
I'm thinking it must have been his preening oil not being refreshed in the site where he couldn't get at to preen properly. The buttery smell was possibly slightly rancid oil?
I'm sure there's some link between budgie odours and wellness, but you'd have to be a serial budgie sniffer like me to notice it.

A serial budgie sniffer! I never thought about smelling my budgies. That would really make them wonder about me. They always give me that "What are you doing?" look. Glad that Boo is healthy again. I just love him.

The only one that will allow me close enough to sniff is Dumpling, he smells delicately waxy.
