Well, my little Boo got a fright in the night and flapped around his cage, and managed to hurt himself.
He's been very quiet and sleepy all day and sticking to me like glue. I think he's hurt his leg. He can't preen one side of himself. I'm amazed how quickly his feathers look a bit messy on that side, as it's only been half a day without proper preening.
He usually flies up and down the house screaming in the mornings and yabbers to us non-stop.
Starting to feel a bit better this afternoon, as he's begun to chat a little. I gave him an energy boost supplement and it's a warm humid day, so that's good.
Don't know what he's done, but hopefully something that's just the equivalent of a human sprain. He can fly okay.

Feel better real soon, Boo! A few days of rest can do wonders.

He probably did bang his leg. I have had budgies with temporary hurt feet, usually sorts out in about 4 days and they keep curling it up to rest it. If it hasn't then it might be something else.

I think he's okay. By about 6 this evening he perked up quite a bit. Hoping he's back to his usual self by tomorrow morning. There's a massive Sydney thunderstorm underway right now - hot and steamy with the sky full of flashing lights and whipping cracks of lightning. Let's hope he doesn't get startled again.
I might have contributed to his night scare, as that day I'd rearranged his cage. Maybe when he woke in panic he didn't know where his usual perches and things were.

Awww poor Boo, night frights are very scary for budgies. I hope he is back to his happy, hyper little self soon Maybe it would be worthwhile getting him a small night-light to help keep the night frights away x

Too late now, the storm will be over, but a light left on dimmly would help with the lightning flashes (ie reduce their impact) and white noise on the radio with the thunder. Just a thought.

Well, he's back chatting and whatnot, but I'm still not altogether happy with him. His poop has changed from small, tight and black and white to bigger and greener. It could be the energy supplement perhaps? And he smells different. Like cheese croissant.

Could be the supplements, do they have a colour? - I think mine were yellow and it made their droppings a different colour. Mine also have poo like this when they have too much sweetcorn!

I'm hoping that when he wakes up tomorrow, his poops will be back to normal and he will have finished the crossword.

2 across sounds like Boo but leaves a nasty mess. 3 letters.

I would guess the stress related to his fright is the culprit for the poo changes. Is all normal now?
