I have read a little about this disease but cannot work out whether my budgie could have it. He has been having a few fits over the last few days -I say fits -he basically begins twitching, and then gets to the point he's jerking his head/neck violently and tries to shake himself out of it. When this happens his right eye gets gunked up and he goes crazy trying to bite on whatever's there and rubbing his head on the perch. It's pretty scary, but he is eating, he was chirping happily and loudly to the birds out the window earlier today. His chirp has been weak/quiet so we were surprised at how loud he got today. His feathers (particularly on his face) look unkempt/disjointed, but otherwise he isn't sleeping excessively. His tail is bobbing a bit, but I think it always has a little (we got him about 2 months ago)
Thinking of going vets on Monday if he has more fits. Could this be psittacosis?

Wouldn't have a clue what it was. But I think you're right to take him to the vet on Monday. Poor little fellow.

Didn't Barrie mention something about sinusitis? That would fit with his eye getting gummed up. But a vet is definitely a good idea.
