Hello, I have 2 budgies, oocho and Aj, and just bought a baby budgie (p-chan) in December. The first few weeks he/she kept to themselves. He`s very friendly to me. Oocho is over 8 years old and hasn`t been able to fly for about 4 years and was sick a little over a year ago. We`ve been together since he was a few weeks old and I love him as much as any family member. He is very energetic, climbs everywhere and can speak. I keep each in a separate cage but like to keep the cages open when I`m home.
Unfortunately, P-chan has been overly aggressive to Oocho. He jumps in his cage, chases Oocho. Oocho is scared and ends up hiding on the side of the cage or falls on the table. This stress can`t be good for Oocho.
If I keep P-chan in his cage he looks depressed and goes crazy when I finally let him out. I know he hates staying in his cage. Right now I let P-chan out for a while but cover Oocho`s cage and then put P-chan in his cage and let Oocho out. Oocho really wants to play in the late night around 12AM.
I`m not sure what to do? Maybe get P-chan`s wings clipped?

What would be achieved by getting the others' wings clipped? Where is the logic there?? Did this new bird have quarantine time away before being introduced to the resident bird(s) You have a middle-aged, disabled budgie, and let a new, young healthy bird into its environment and wonder why the new bird wants to dominate??? It is survival of the fittest in the big bad world, so you need to ensure that the new bird has no chance to get anywhere near the elderly resident. That is your job. Keep them separated until you can be sure that there is not agro going on between them.

I`ve never had my birds winged clipped but one article I read said it makes birds less aggressive. That`s why I asked since I`ve never considered doing it before.
Yes, the bird had a quarantine time and at first my older birds ignored them, then they played a little. Oocho can`t fly but he`s as active around the cage area as my other older bird. He jumps around and plays and gives food to his toy.
It seems like the new bird is a just a little aggressive at times but they still often play together. The new bird is just a little too excited! I`m trying to make everyone happy and have as much free time as possible.
