The day before yesterday my mom's bird flew into our woodstove and burned his feet. I rushed to grab him as he was just shocked and couldn't get off and then put his feet in the faucet for a while...he seemed to be doing fine as they were small burns - he was shrieking the next morning just fine- but just to make sure I was looking at his feet once in a while. Sure enough today they looked reddish and puffed up and a little brown and he doesn't like being held. Is there any way to make them heal well and stop getting infected? I read that birds sometimes NEVER heal completely from burns like these on their feet.. do they heal? My poor little baby My mom probably won't shop for bird ointment unless she sees a real need..Is there any home remedy like stuff found around the house you could recommend?

This is sad and it may be too late , apply a soothing cream such as savlon twice a day

Let's hope the burns are not too deep. Poor thing.

barrieshutt Too late for it to heal correctly ooor what do you mean too late? His burns are very minor and I don't have salvon in the house so thanks anyway. Would something like an oil help? Coconut oil maybe?

Thanks for the help & suggestions! Sky's feet are almost healed now! He is recovered completely by his own standard ( )and flies about perfectly fine. Also I should mention he is perching the same as usual. All he has left are small brown stains.

Yeah, Sky. So glad his feet have healed. Nothing worse than sore feet.

Thank goodness he's okay and burns were not too bad. Everyone was worried because burns can be so serious, especially on their feet.

That is terrific news about Sky's feet. How is he going to take to four feathered friends?
