Brand New Budgie
Depending on how much I care for this budgie I could be getting a Cockatoo or a Macaw end of year!

I was wondering whether or not to trim my birds wings due to it flying off all of the time and it keep on going to the same place back and forth all over again and makes it really frustrating to get it down from that spot without having to grab it. Also makes it easier to tame and bond with my fellow friend ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

You quite obviously have not read many posts on this forum or you would not be asking that question. I will answer it in one simple word NO.

NEVER. Please don't. It would be like having your legs chopped, to a budgie

It will be fine after a few days of having "no legs" it will get used to the fact that it has to stare at my ugly mug all day

There is no reason for anyone to clip their budgie's wings. Train and tame you bird by earning its trust, not because it cannot get away and has no choice. Not only can the process of having wings clipped and then not being able to fly traumatic for a bird which is already fledged, it can cause serious injury to the bird when it tries to fly but cannot. It may crash to the ground/floor and seriously injure its keel bone.

Disgraceful thing to do to a bird! Only mother nature/god has the right to decide if an animal can fly. The bird was given wings you have no right to take them away.

It's really frustrating for you? You are joking right? It's a bird, it's what birds do - fly. Pretty sure the poor thing would be 100x more frustrated than you are having no wings. I'm wondering if this person who is posting is a troll, by the way... judging by their uneducated posts.

Do not trim your budgies wings, it's cruel and unnecessary.

If this is how you are feeling about taking care of a budgie then you should definitely not get any other bird (going from your profile where you say you will get a larger bird later IF you like the budgie). If you won't take the time to tame and train the bird then you should rehome it so it will be taken care of properly. Do not clip its wings.

Is this poster a wind up?
It's quite obvious you are not suited to care for birds. If you want a cute pet but don't want it flying about, why don't you get a hamster!
