Hi guys, just a quick question on taming/training budgies.
I know birds like routine, and my routine is usually volunteering on the Friday, and visiting family on the weekend, meaning that the small baby will be left in the care of my housemates. So, will the training process take twice as long? For example, I'll leave them to get used to me for 10 days instead of 7, read to them for 10 days and etc?

I don't really understand the second part of your post, but for the first, any time not spent with your new bird will mean bonding takes longer, sure, but not necessarily twice as long. A lot depends on you and the bird's personality. Is anyone going to be giving the little one any time when you are not there, or just looking after its basic needs? Also you don't need to spend all day with the bird - it would probably appreciate a break as well - if you have five-ten minutes on any day to spend with it, stepping up and down etc talking and handling, every little bit helps with the training process.

There really isn't a gauge for taming/training. Any creature is going to take different amounts of time to learn a new skill. No one person or animal will be the same as another.
