Any recommendations? I have a vision cage but the vision bath has mixed reviews - it looks dark and could be a bit scary? Wondering if the Lixit quick lock one might be better? Any thoughts please.

I, and quite a few others, use a pie dish on top of the cage. I haven't seen a bird bath that is a suitable size. With a pie dish, you can add a few sprigs of whatever greenery is their favourite, the lip makes for good perching, and most of us have one already in the cupboard.

Yes, I do what Hezz does.
A glass clear dish or even a plate with wet greens on it is great.
I was never able to get mine to use an actual bird bath.
Some of them tend to bathe in their water bowls once a week, mentioning no names.. LUCY!

The other thing that budgies love for a bath, being a desert bird and hence don't see much rain, they do love a piece of greenery - herbs, veggies, sprigs of budgie-safe leaves (eucalypts are always safe) - hung up in the cage and wet down. This is their normal method of bathing. They do so love to rub themselves all over a wet piece of whatever. It is a beautiful thing to see.

I only thought of a bath as he has been known to splash around in his water pot. I was actually looking for an add-on item for Amazon as was about to buy a bird gym. He's only just started coming out of his cage by himself and usually gets as far as sitting on top only. It's taken him a long time to get that far! I think discovering a saucer of water there might freak him, so I'll save that for a bit

A glass casserole dish lid does for mine too. It's glass, so not scary like a saucer would be. Place a piece of basil in it and he will go for the basil and then realise how enticing the water is. Make sure it's not icey cold!

My birds (3) will only bath on wet celery or lettuce I try to mist them as they rub on it but they are not keen even after 5 years so I guess they are set in their ways now . Can anyone think of a way to spice up bath time as I have tried everything i can think off . The cage is huge 6ft long 2.5ft wide and 3.5 tall they kick off for the doors to be open but very very rarely come out . When I get them out they walk about a bit on the top looking into the cage then go straight back in absolutely no interest in anything out outside the cage how can I get the interested

I also use a pie dish lid, clear glass one, because most birdbaths that clip on the cage are far too small for a budgie and its tail to fit in. Their vision is also restricted and they feel vulnerable. They are not relaxed enough to take the bath they desire. Even though all my budgies will take a bath in the pie dish lid they still enjoy rubbing against wet leaves hung down inside the cage. It is a joy to watch them enjoying both methods of bathing.

This is an old thread, people. You are better off starting your own with your own specific questions.
