I can't sit in this heat either Wendy, otherwise I would be out there with the chooks too, but I do let them free range and keep an eye on them. They find their own shade. Will we ever get a 'normal' summer again??? I don't know Shirls but do you remember the pictures of the slug invasion I posted last year? That was this time yesterday. So the weather was the complete opposite to this year. I remember losing so many plants to the slugs as the we had so much rain.

Yes.... I do remember all those slugs, what a nightmare that was for you. I have to admit, I have only seen one or two slugs in my garden this year so far. My chooks don't eat them btw, do yours? I know there were too many for them last year though!!

My bantams eat the smaller ones but the big girls are too posh. The problem was that the chooks were all in bed by the time the slugs came out. I've had more snails than slugs this year. We have rather a lot of frogs so I think the slugs have taken a battering.
