Hi everyone! I've been thinking about getting budgies for a long time and I finally decided to get two! I've read on multiple different sites that putting them both untamed in the same cage doesn't work very well and makes it more difficult to tame them. So my options are:
1. Get one budgie first and then get another once the first is tamed. In this process, I would tame the second budgie while it is in quarantine.
2. Get them both at the same time and put them in separate cages, introducing them once they are tame.
If you have any other ideas please let me know! Thanks!

Find a decent breeder who is prepared to handle the chicks before they come to you. They don't need to be hand-raised, but simply handled by the breeder. If you can find one who will do this, get the two together - saves lots of possible issues, and also the quarantining time and space. Two budgies will give themselves company when you are not there but with the two you will not get the extreme bond that you can with only one. My big question is ... what is it you are wanting from these beautiful creatures? Your other post suggests that the birds will be sharing space with other people .... are they going to have time outside the cage, as in free flight time??? This is pretty much necessary for these guys, but it means others have to be aware of when the birds are out to make sure all windows and doors are closed so there are no escapees.

Yes, I was aware that they needed free flight time. Once I am comfortable with getting them to step up I plan on letting them fly in a small room. I only want to give these adorable birds the best life I can provide. The people I live with are aware that they will need to be careful when the birds are out and they understand the importance of budgie-proofing.
