Hello budgie lovers!
So I got my new budgie chick. He is 7 weeks old, almost 8. I made a nice design in the cage, he is very lovely. He lets me to scratch his head and cheeks which I love it. Now I am taming him in the cage and he comes to my hand when I have food. He comes around 20 cm from a far distance when I have food in the middle of my hand.
My question is, I never used mirrors and now I got one for this chick so that he can use it while I am at work. When I am at home, he spends so much time with mirror, he tries to kiss or feed and he even tries to go to the other side of the mirror to reach his reflection. I would like to know if it will effect taming and if it is wiser to remove the mirror when I arrive at home? Maybe I need to remove it after all? When I am at work, he has a shiny room, colorful toys and music.

Your call; if he is spending too much time with the mirror and not integrating, or if he becomes possessive of it, I would definitely remove it for a short time and only allow him to have randomly.

I would remove the mirror until you have a good bond with your new friend. Not just trust but he needs to bond with you, that is come to you without you having to go to him, otherwise he may bond with that other budgie in the mirror.

I am convinced to remove the mirror. I felt that it makes him aggressive. Also he is definitely bonding with it more than me. Thanks for the advice!

Hi!
Me and my budgie have had a lot of progress. We are going very good. I want to ask if it is also possible to be addictive to a toy for budgies like mirror?
Last few days we are doing many good things with my budgie but I see that he is very obsessive with one toy as well and he yells if I get closer to him while he is doing something there.

I have already answered this question for you. See my response below. if he is spending too much time with the mirror and not integrating, or if he becomes possessive of it, I would definitely remove it for a short time and only allow him to have it randomly.

But it is not a mirror, just a colorful toy. I think you mean that it is same with toys as well.
