What I see is much more pain in the future if the toe is not straightened. The nail is going to dig in the next toe and cause callouses at least, infections at worst. Me, I would take the inconvenience and have the condition rectified before something else happens. I know what it's like to fall uncontrollably. It's not like when one is younger I can assure you.

OP, there is no doubt it has to be corrected, it is just it has taken me 6 months to get to this point and Im really dreading it again and of course I won't get paid for more time off work which is a financial worry. I already have calluses and am wearing a cotton pad in-between my toe or my nail cuts into my toe and an insert in my shoe or I really do fall over! Its a rubbish situation but I will just have to get on with it.

Not a good situation to be in; I am sorry for you. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Nothing worse than not being mobile. Is your foot always so bruised looking? ...... (sorry to take the topic away from Boris, such a lovely boy he is being, as well)

Is your foot always so bruised looking? ...... (sorry to take the topic away from Boris, such a lovely boy he is being, as well) It's ok, I kind of started it by talking about the steps. It is still swelling at the end of the day at the moment which is making it look red and bruised. I am so wobbly I bloody fell off a step stool at work today and went backwards into a pallet of paper. I'm black and blue! One of my colleagues picked me up off the floor, I was sooo embarrassed! I think Boris maybe ready for a fly out this weekend, he has really got good at step up, as my hand goes near him before I say 'step up' his little foot lifts up ready. He's so cute!

You poor thing. I hope your bruises heal soon. I imagine you might ache tomorrow though.
It's not helping obviously that you don't get paid if off sick, but more pressure.
Boris is so cute. Love that he's stepping up for you

Ah ok. Still a shame if an op is involved rather than say colds and flu sick

Yes I agree but that is the company policy where I work, I suppose rules are rules.

Oweeee! What a nasty situation for you helenmat I cant even begin to imagine how painful that must be! I know of someone in the family that had their toes bending underneath their feet - they had one op to have her foot/toes broken and reset to the proper position. She said that it was so painful that she couldn't bring herself to have the other one done ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) On a happier note tho great news for you about Boris - is he settling in well with Buddy? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
