Hey guys, so i've had my gorgeous girl Ailen for about 2 months now and the step up trick is in the bag, she steps up without an issue and the same for the target trick, but i'm having a bit of trouble with the flight recall.. Yesterday and the day before she would fly to my hand from atleast 30cm away when i called her but today she wont even budge 5cm! 2 days of great training and today just terrible lol could i be doing something wrong? Thanks for any input ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I feel your frustration. My new bird Boris is very head strong, he will step up and eat out of my hand but every so often he just looks at me as if to say, 'nah, I don't feel like it today!' I just end up leaving it and trying again another time. Don't give up but remember you can always coax with their favourite treat. Millet works wonders!

As Helen said, persistence and patience are what will win the day!
May I ask what the target trick is?

I say, she does look a beautiful head strong lady. If she wants, she will. Time and patience. Be prepared to take a step backwards occasionally. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yes, what is the target trick, please?

Birds are just like all other creatures that we humans attempt to bend to our will; some days they will, some days they will not, regardless of what sacrifices we may make to whatever Gods you might believe in. On these days, give in in good grace, and try again tomorrow.

Target training is just that. You have a target, usually a stick and when they touch it they get a reward. It's usually done with a clicker. It's basically to get the bird to go where you want it to go.Maybe that's back to it's cage or on a certain perch etc.
