I heard a screech a moment ago from the budgies, and when I looked in Pebbles had blood on his beak. It's on either side of the actual beak (not his face/feathers), as if it has been bitten. I can't imagine it would have been either of my other two budgies, so I'm guessing it was my cockatiel. I caught him and tried to clean it a little with some damp tissue, but I think it may be clotting/drying. It didn't seem to be broken, but it must be sore as he's not letting the others playfully peck him there like he usually does. I'm worried! Is there anything I should do or look out for? (apart from keeping my cockatiel out of their cage )

My cockatiel is really aggressive and irritable towards my budgies. He is "in love" with my female budgie, Maya, who happens to be paired with Pebbles (who was attacked last night). He gets angry when they kiss/bond with each other and chases Pebbles away. He is definitely the strongest and bossiest of them all. I can't imagine it would have been Pebble's mate or his best friend (Cookie) that attacked him like that! I'm going to have a look at Pebbles beak now. He's still alive, thankfully!, but it was a bit dark earlier to see his beak clearly.

So I don't need to clean the beak anymore? With an antiseptic?
It didn't bleed much. He just has two dark red blood stains either side of his beak today.

I know, it is so difficult at the moment. I want to get my cockatiel a friend, but I can't because of my living situation. He is clearly unhappy and frustrated. I don't want to give up on him though. He has a seperate cage, but he went in theirs last night before it turned dark. I've been letting them all out together, but now I'm too worried about doing that. I just let my cockatiel out today, as it doesn't work the other way around. He wasn't too happy their doors were closed either though! Might just have to be this way for now.

I would definitely separate the cockatiel, if he is aggressive then I wouldn't allow him any contact with the budgies, it could have been a lot worse after all. If Pebbles wound isn't bleeding anymore then I would just leave him to it but keep an eye on him. If it is still bleeding then apply a little cornflour to it which will help it to stop. I believe Barrie sometimes uses Savlon spray on wounds, you should double check that with him though

Can you move the cockatiel to another room, Starling? He has already caused you a lot of strife in the budgie camp, you just may have to foster him out for a while till you have more room or, yes, get him his own friend, but there is no guarantee that he is going to take to another cockatiel while Maya is there.
