Maggie, my little white bantam was looking very sick 3 days ago. She wasn't eating, her comb and wattles were pale and she could hardly stand. Out came my supply of baytril. I gave her her first dose and she put up no resistance at all. The past 2 mornings I have dreaded opening the house to let them out, willing her to still be with us. Last night I got her to eat some peas and grapes and today she popped out of her little house and raced Maple to the food trough. She was a sod when I tried to give her her Baytril and I got covered in it, but I was happy to be sticky and messy as Maggie is going to be OK.

Thank goodness for Baytril this time. Glad you seem to be feeling better Maggie.

Poor Maggie, hopefully your quick thinking with the baytril has helped her

She's definitely back to her old self, grabbing all the treats for herself and not letting Maple have any, little madam.

It's good that Maggie is back to her old tricks, however annoying they might be.

It's good that Maggie is back to her old tricks, however annoying they might be. She is a little madam but she's top chook so it's normal behaviour which is what we want.

Really not sure shirls. But it was obviously bacterial related if the meds worked. She's continued to improve and shot out of the house today like a bullet so not much wrong with her now.

They really are so funny these chickens!!! Are you still giving her Baytril starlingqueen ? They are funny little things. I stopped the baytril after 3 days and her resisting me. She had 6 doses. I believe that there is no reason to continue once the animal is back to their normal self. It's always worked for me so far. There is evidence that the "finish the course" rule is contributing to antibiotic resistance.
