Siamese Fighting Fish, also known simply as Betta Fish, are carnivores.
In the wild, Betta Fish eat zooplankton and the larvae of numerous insects such as flies, crickets, mosquitoes, midges, and grasshoppers.
Bettas that have a wider range of food in their diet have longer lives, brighter colors, and altogether healthier bodies.
As pets, Betta Fish typically eat pelleted and flaked fish foods (tropical) that are made specially for them. Although flakes reduce their coloring, they are much easier for the Bettas to digest. Some brands of popular Betta Fish food include:
Feed the Bettas about 2-4 pellets per serving, or 3-4 flakes per serving.
To give your Betta Fish variety in their diets, feed them treats such as bloodworms, brineshrimp, tubifex worms, or daphnia. It is not good to feed these to them often, because they have high amounts of protein in them which can lead to constipation. You can find these frozen, freeze-dried, or live.
Feed the Bettas about 1-2 of these per serving, once or twice a week.
To add fiber to the diet to treat or prevent constipation, Betta Fish can be fed little bits of some fruits/vegetables. Bettas can eat finely chopped, blanched foods such as spinach, apple, soybean, lettuce, corn, carrots, oats, and broccoli.
Feed as many fruits/veggies as Bettas can eat in 30 seconds.
Hope this helps!

My Birds My Foods & Supplements Always treat your pets as family members. We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures (Quran 21:107) There is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing (Quran 6:38)

ps i dont feed Norman 1 dyt a week to help with his diegestion and once a month,on his 1 day of non feeding i cook a pea, shell it, break it up into tiny potions and feed him it (also good for diegestion x:)
If tomorrow starts without me don’t think we’re far apart because every time you think of me I’m always in your heart x
We had a series of fighting fish over a number of years, but the longest living and the most memorable was the female who the boys called Yuki (they were practising Judokas at the time - that is Judo competitors), she eventually died of old age after being given to hubbie second-hand. A series of males came after in varying colours but all met untimely deaths every time we went on holidays - the usual overfeeding!
I am sure you will have better luck with Sid, Gaile. Hope so, anyway!
