When you sell your birds do you provide any information with them like a care sheet or a contract sort of thing telling them the mutations of the parents and what food you feed?
thanks ;D

Yes a complete list of DOs and DONTs to a new budgie owner.
I once gave a pair of budgies to a lady. Both birds died as the cage was right in front of air conditioner with excessive room air freshener.

...A business card for this forum? Yes a good idea, but some people are too lazy to look for the information.

I'd do a care sheet, definitely, with a few points on good cages, clean food and water, temperature, budgie dangers, and so on.
Also with the web address of this site.

I think the business cards and a care sheet would be good. There is only so much info you can put on a sheet, even two sheets if you were prepared to go that far, but make the info on the sheet the very necessities for budgie health, then with the forum business card, they could look us up if they are any sort of interested in learning more about their budgie. Serz, you only have to think about what you do routinely for your birds.....run through your daily maintenance first and take notes. Once you get started, you will find your own experience will lead you in the right direction. Once you have all your daily points, work on weekly maintenence and so on. I would suggest, though, no offence, that you get someone else to either type it up for you, or edit it for you, as your spelling isn't great. Please don't take offence, but it wouldn't look good handing out care sheets filled with spelling and grammar mistakes. I think a small family history of the budgie, including its particular mutation, is an excellent idea. Also, a little bag of the seed the bird is currently eating.

Thanks hezz that's some good advice. As for the spelling thing hezz I'm not great at spelling but most of the time I'm typing off my iPhone and it's a pain in the neck as it auto corrects words to words it thinks you should have put or an American spelling so yeah it's partly me and partly my phone ha ha

Whether the owner is a child, or an elderly person, the pleasure and interest that budgies provide is universal. They can be kept as individual pets in a cage or as a small group in an aviary. Some budgies make exceptional speakers with good vocabularies. The most important purchase for the welfare of a budgie is the cage and this must be at least 450mm long. Bars should be no wider than 12mm to prevent escape. You should provide a bath for your bird, either fixed to the outside of the cage or a shallow bowl placed inside the cage – although some birds may prefer to be sprayed with tepid water instead. The cage should also contain plenty of toys to keep your Budgie amused, particularly if it is kept on its own. Budgie basics. 1. A good budgerigar seed mix 2. Clean water daily 3. Cuttlefish bone, iodine block 4. Millet spray weekly 5. Regular treats like apple & carrot 6. Oyster shell grit 7. Companionship 8. Daily exercise 9. Regular cleaning of cage & utensils For the answers to all your concerns, contact us on our free budgerigar forum budgerigarsforum.proboards.comYou will always have someone to help you, just ask the question.
