On Saturday after going out for a pub lunch we went to a garden centre on the way back that has a big pet shop part. I said hello to the resident pair of cockatiels, one of which loves head scritches and then picked up some big cuttlefish for the aviary. Anywho long story short my mum spotted a interesting veggie holder. Its for rabbits and guinea pigs really but I feel that it will work great for budgies. I put a carrot in it today ( you could also put other veggies in it like celery etc) and the budgies in my room have already been nibbling on it. I am trying it out with them so I can keep an eye on it because it is plastic coated and I want to make sure they won't chew through to the metal before I get one for the aviary. Want to see? lol Photos to come when they are more used to it.

Nice holder Rachael, we're abouts did you get this from? My 6 budgies won't eat carrot except from the tops, this might just help.

I used to own rabbits and had this holder for their carrots- I got it from Pets at Home but that would have been about 2002/3 so I don't know if they still sell them but maybe worth a look. Also a hay manger hangs in a similar way and could be useful for leafier vegetables.

Ferplast make a salad rack, I came across it online yesterday when I was perusing bird accessories! Do I do that often?? What do you think?!

I have a couple of those little salad racks but my birds ignore anything I put in it foodwise. Might try it with some shreddables in instead

Mine only react to cheap pegs! Anything too fancy, nah, ah, take it away! Pegs, that's the way in our house. (Probably why the clothes won't stay on the line - all the pegs have gone inside)
