It seems my chickens have developed a taste for blackberries. Even the green ones!! So much so I have had to 'chicken' wire them off. Daily, while I am in the garden, the chooks line up and wistfully gaze at the blackberries! Blackberries by on Flickr

Aww, just look at them Shirls. I'm sorry, but I'd need to let them have them, 😁😁

Ooo! such a meany. Making them stand and stare. Are they bad for the chooks or is the mess they make after being processed?

No they don't make a mess after being 'processed' OP, they never get enough to make that amount of difference. I do give them the 'scanky' ones ffiscool, jellybean, and some that are not quite so scanky of course. But they jump up and pinch the green ones before they even ripen. Sometimes I have to get Mollie out from behind the wire, she has found a way in!!

you would think the green ones would give them a stomach ache...
it is funny, not that I have a clue, but would not think of chickens liking blackberry..

Oh yes ffiscool, blackberry pie, blackberry and apple pie, bramble jelly! No, seriously they love blackberries, grapes, strawberries, apple. I sometimes hang up a cored apple and they have fun trying to catch it and peck it to bits (and eat if of course).
