>:(My budgie had a swollen left eye as though it was protruding out. Went to the vetsand they said they didnt know what it may be, possibly a growth, possibly bacterial so gave 10 days worth of anti biotics to put on seeds twice a day - said to come back in 10 days (this Thursday!) The eye doesnt seem any better - it is now slightly shut. He doesnt seem to be in any pain and is moving about the cage, poos are as normal and he is eating and drinking. Any ideas - I dont know what to do?? or think?? x

Has your bird got an in growing feather above the eye (known as a directional feather) sounds like some eye ointment is needed, your vet while priscribe this, just make sure your budgie don't scratch his /her eye as this could cause damage or injury, another visit to the vets is needed, an avian one if possible. The vet I use is one and he is a eye specialist too.
