It's very hot in Sydney today, so a bath was called for. Boo can be hard to lure in for a dip, so I tried Marianne's suggestion of a glass dish, some basil, and a ping pong ball. And voila. It really works. I've tried these things separately, and no luck. Together they worked like a dream. I usually have to resort to the spray bottle, which means I get wet as well, as he'll only submit to the spray if he's on my shoulder and we both have a shower.

Looks like Boo is having lots of fun. Yes. Thanks to Marianne. It's great to share tips on here, no matter how small. Matt and Puck's tip on curling the ends of the celery also worked to get Boo to eat celery, at long last.

Brilliant Stace, I'm glad it worked for Boo. They just can't resist that much fun in a dish eh?

No Marianne,i will have to go and get some :/ Grow a pot of basil. If you wet a bunch, Elfie might have a go at rubbing through the wet leaves. That's how they bathe in the wild.

arr cool! will do stace,Thank you, will give it a try, would i cut a bunch off and put in the bars of cage? Get a shallow bowl of water and swish them around in it. The noise of the rustling water and leaves gets them thinking about bathing. If Elfie won't go in the water, hold the bunch of wet leaves up to her and she might start rubbing herself through them. You can probably do the same with any bunch of soft, wet, leafy things. But they do particularly like basil for some reason. You can also hang them in the cage. They tend to dry out really fast though, and then wilt really quickly. If you leave them in the bowl of water, they'll stay fresh for ages. Plus, that way you might tempt her into the water. Keep the water really shallow.
