Hi there, I wonder if you can help. We don't have a fireplace in our house so now it's got really cold here, I'm using a portable gas fire which has a (lpg) calor gas cylinder with it. But is it safe for my budgies? If you can help it would be much appreciated. thanks

Thanks so much as always for your support and advice in this, I'll get another carbon monoxide detector a.s.a.p. (we have one in the utility room but not the sitting room). We have a smoke alarm (neither of us smoke but when I grill or fry it's a bit sensitive!) Oh and the budgies are at the other side of the room to the gas fire, which is not that big but say 10/15 ft - ish- away.

Got a carbon monoxide detector, up and working, typical....the weather has changed, warmer and the gas fire hasn't been on since oh well, it's only February, anything could happen with the British weather!
