Don't know if you remember but I posted a picture on here of my very dainty, little orchid that I purchased a couple of years ago now. It had two or three flower spikes, which were staked and it was very pretty. The label on it said 'discard after flowering'. Well, I never did and it blossoms every year, but this year it has gone berserk!! I couldn't stake the stems as they were too intent on draping over the pot. This is it: I move some of my orchids into the conservatory of a day time, this one included, and it has to sit on the edge of the table, like when it's at home it sits on the edge of a shelf!! What is really amazing is that a lot of the flowers have died and dropped off, all the little buds to the ends of the stems are all coming out, which doesn't always happen with orchids.

Shirts that is really beautiful. I love the challenge of making my orchids flower year after year. Most people just throw them away after flowering, and I admit they are not very attractive when they have finished flowering. We have a conservatory and I put mine on the floor when I have pruned them, and then more or less ignore them until I see start to bud........ I think yours looks really pretty tumbling down like that.π

Lovely Shirls, I did as Samwiseg suggested and put all my 15 orchids in the porch to shock them into flowering, well I shocked some of them to death. I still can't get mine to flower, except for one little one like yours. My friend has just bought me 2 more this week so this time I am cutting nothing off them at all and see what happens.

Sorry, suesbird, but I did have to laugh. Shirls, it is looking really pretty this year. I don't know how anyone could throw away something that is still living, even if it doesn't look so pretty any more. Someone recently was standing on our deck and said something along the lines of "you should ask your neighbour to remove that tree to open up your view". Sorry, but the tree has more right to be there than I do to have a great view. We have a great view anyway, it just has a tree in the middle of it.

I keep reading up on things I should do and they die, so in future I am leaving them alone to their own devices.

Shirls I have been given an orchid in a glass bowl and growing just in moss. It looks beautiful but no doubt I will kill this one too.

suesbird , someone could do a whole gardening series episode on your problem. Don't you have a good garden centre or plant nursery close by where you could pick someone's brain??

In my humble opinion, orchids thrive on neglect! All they really need are the right light conditions, forget watering them, just a spray on the roots every now and again when they are flowering is all they need..... When they have finished flowering they like to be ignored in a dark corner.......

I've got to say I don't ignore my orchids but they do seem to thrive. I re-pot them, water them very little, spray them now and again and they just keep on blooming. The only one I have trouble with is the Dendrobium. That likes to rest for absolutely ages!!but it comes back in the end.
