so about a month ago i got 2 new budgies and another 2 a week ago as a gift. they are scared of me and even millet and get scared and fly to the other side of the cage whenever i open the doors change their food and water or even put millet spray in there. im actually scared of putting toys in. i fell like i have lost all progress that i had with the older 2. one of the newer ones had to be separated for medical reasons and was grabbed by hand but not by me, and one of the older ones was caught using a breeding nest and also not by me. their place have been changed three times and they are stable there for now i think because it is kind of a closed backyard and we dont care making them as dirty as they made the living room. breeders and bird stores that are mostly run by bird lovers and breeders here keep telling me that i have no chance and i have to let them breed when they are in age and tame their chicks. are they right or go you guys know any way to make them a little bit more friendly and be able to tame and play with them? thanks.

I'm not that experienced, but it's all about time and perseverance. As there are 4 of them, they have each other for company, so don't really need a human to bond with. You could try hand feeding so that they associate you with good things, but I'm afraid I don't have much more advice than that. Someone with more experience will be along soon. Good luck.

In all honesty, I feel that with time they may become less stressed and more accepting of you being around them, and they may quieten down, but really properly tamed, I doubt it, unless you have a lot of time to spend constantly with them.

In my experience you need to work with them individually, maybe when they settle a little, its fairly difficult but it can be done.
