All my other budgies have loved their mirrors. But someone told me a silly story and now i don't know whether to get Charlie and Tommy one or not. What should i do?

People say not to with lone budgies because they will bond with their reflection and not the owner In the case of two budgies, I'd imagine the other bird would be the primary target ... but you could say a mirror is unnecessary cause they already have a real friend I realise I've not answered - probably best some one with more than one bird chimes in with experience

I have 6 birds and have a mirror in the cage for them.
Never had any problems.
Sometimes they'll stand in front of it and make an awful racket talking to themselves. Sometimes they'll climb on top of it.

Hi budgiemadness. The jury is out over this one. You have two budgies so should be fine getting them a mirror. My birds have enjoyed their mirrors too, but there is a school of thought out there that says mirrors and single birds don't mix - they become too attached to the mirror etc, etc. Yes they can, but if you are aware that they can become a problem and remove it as soon as you see them paying the mirror too much attention, give them something else to play with and return the mirror after a couple of weeks. That is wth a single budgie. Some say its okay if you are aware and prepared to intervene, others will tell you they make a bird psycotic, cause dementia, to name a few. Your two budgies have each other to bond with, I feel there is very little risk of getting them a mirror. If you notice one of your birds paying it too much attention, trying to feed it etc, then it is time to remove the offending item. That's my humble opinion, and I am sticking to it.
