Hello there, I'm happy to see that Munchy is still with us!
I have two hagen visions and although I like them, they can be a bit of a trial to clean. The piano 6 does look good and spacious.
We have lost 5 budgies (Billybob, Sky, Basil, Custard and Hector) in the last year and currently have 5, but I still have 4 cages!
Unsure whether to scale down or adopt a couple more strays.

That’s a very tough decision, Marianne! I’m concerned that I might get bitten by the bug and not end up stopping at 2! (Though maybe not whilst they’re living in my room! Sorry to hear about your losses.

Hi Ira, lovely to see you again and to hear that Munchy is doing so well at the ripe old age of eight. I do hope you are able to sort out your space to accommodate the larger cage. After all what's more important - too many clothes or not enough budgies?? Budgies win every time. Good luck with the move. When I think of Munchy I think of Munchy and the sequins on the curtains.

I would rather the larger cage! The problem is, because it’s rented I can’t get rid of the wardrobe unless the landlord agrees. I don’t even have enough clothes to fill it!
If I’m getting him a friend I could put the larger cage in the downstairs room and just make it a little budgie playroom. I just then need to decide if I’m putting anything in there to do that would take up their space. Or if I just put in a comfy chair and take a book down to read whilst watching the mischief.
Going to do more measurements tomorrow to see what furniture I can stack inside the half of the wardrobe I don’t need if it has to stay.
On one hand I didn’t want a second because I don’t want to get into replacing one every time a cage mate passes, especially as I have no idea how long Munchy will go on. At his age it could be days or years at any given point! But he won’t have my grandparents so will need company and more room inside for when I’m working all day.
Ah! Munchy and the sequinned curtains! Those were the days! He was such a little monkey! Even now he’ll go for anything shiny on my clothes!

When I think of Munchy, I think of “KEVINS”!! (I do hope it *is* Munchy who had a Kevin ball? .... otherwise you’ll be totally confused!🤣) BTW they’re still called Kevins in this house! 😂😃

It is Munchy with the Kevins! The fact that that has spread is hilarious! Munchy now favours a more jingly, light-weight Kevin!

samwiseg Thanks! It’s really great to be back and see so many familiar faces! Hezz For an idea of how ridiculous the wardrobe is, it’s split into two halves and I measured inside one half. If I removed the doors, the rail and the shelves, the Piano 6 would fit inside with room to spare! I have found more batteries supporting more bits and pieces in there so fingers crossed he’ll remove the entire thing, if not, one half can be storage. I’ve now fully measured my room and the downstairs room, so I’m doodling up some furniture arrangement plans. I’m torn because if I put the birds downstairs I can basically make the room a budgie room, although putting in some furniture so I can do things in there to watch them takes up a bit of space. But if I put them in my room there will be more surfaces overall and a larger flying space. The downstairs room is right next to the utility room, so easy access to the sink and surfaces in there for cage washing, but then I have to put up with stink of Lily’s litter tray. Whereas carrying stuff down two flights of stairs to wash is a pain, or I just wash stuff in the shower cubicle in my bathroom. The main arguments for putting them downstairs are definitely me issues as opposed to budgie issues. Not sure I’ll get much sleep before or after a night shift with them chirping away. And if I put them downstairs it gives me a reason to leave my room! I will present floor plan pictures shortly and you can tell me your thoughts. Images don’t upload well directly from phones or tablets, do they?

Brodie has a light-weight Kevin too -“Little Kevin”, he also has a “Normal Kevin” & a “Giant Kevin” (a Kevin inside a Kevin), what can I say, he LOVES Kevins! (& I say “Kevin” far more often every day than I think is normal! 🤣)

My lot don't play with Kevins. I do have some, perhaps I'll put them out and see what happens.

Kevins!!! I had forgotten Kevins. My buds don't play with Kevins either, but Loki, the sun conure, will seek and destroy, sometimes hopefully by throwing them off things, other times with very purposeful intent! @sillycat84, you can upload photos straight onto the forum now ... this is probably the easiest explanation: budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/17937/uploading-photos-2If the cage fits inside the wardrobe ... would that be an option for your shifts - close the door? Or better still, have a smaller cage that you can cart up and down the stairs with the birds, and still have your little dedicated budgie room when you did need to sleep?

Oh Loki! I remember seeing a few things about him! He sounds like wonderful trouble! Haha! Closing the doors on them! Well I’ll have to quarantine in the travel cage because I want to move them both into the big cage together once they’ve gotten to know each other, but I’ll probably keep Munchy’s cage for any future quarantining, because it’ll provide more space, and then the travel cage can just be for short transport. But yes, I can probably either put them in the smaller room or in the living room. If it’s not a weekend my housemates will be at work so I can shut Lily-fuzzybutt out of anywhere because my friend isn’t there. Thanks Hezz, I shall check the link. In really awesome news, the landlord has agreed to remove the wardrobe! Now I can get something nice and small and arrange properly. Oh! And my friend with a car has agreed to drive me to find a new feathered friend when he’s off work between the 18th and 25th of November, which gives me time to set up! Marianne, Kevinception!

Marianne Marlow, Loki has a couple of these. They have a lovely jingle, and he used to play with them quite a lot. Now he has another cat toy that he likes which is not so sweet sounding - a bit like him, really! And, yes, he is wonderful trouble. Good news about the wardrobe, though, Ira. Can' wait for the next exciting installment.
