My eldest leaves secondary school in June after his GCSE exams. Last week he had an interview for sixth form college, and they offered him the place providing he gets the grades That interview took place at school. Today he has an interview at another college he'd be interested in. This one is at the college this afternoon... He thought he's wear his usual garb...I thought differently and went out to buy him a smart shirt and tie, a good impression never hurts after all. He tried it on last night (grudgingly) and I just thought how he really looks like a man now, not my little guy anymore. He also looks scarily like his dad, all but the glasses, but that's really lovely. I'm proud of him already. Go get 'em Dave!!

Oh, wow, doesn't it go just soooooo fast! My eldest finishes secondary school in November, and badly wants to go to uni. He certainly has the smarts to do whatever he wants, but depends on money!!!! And of course a little application on his part to get into what he wants. So it's "goodbye, Dave" really isn't it? Next thing you know, they are gone. Has he had his first shave yet? Cam has to tidy himself up every few weeks, and last night we were talking about the senior's formal. I am sure he is a young man to be proud of, Sarah, and good luck, Dave!

Thanks guys, he got offered a place! Now he has two to choose between, both courses have pros and cons so he needs to have a good think over the next few months. He has to get the grades they want so lots of knuckling down now. He isn't very academic but with hard work he will be fine, it just doesn't come easily to him. I told him to phone Grandma with the news, then I told him again, then again... After all she would've been waiting to hear. She eventually rang while he was in the bath, so I made him get out and talk to her! He could learn a lesson from that but I doubt he has. I'm very proud of him, and yes Hezz, I've lost him really. He doesn't need his old mum anymore. That's how it should be, but it's a little bit sad too...

That's great, Congratulations! He didn't get there without an awful lot of help from mum along the way, so you take some credit for him turning out so well. Tell him six months of hard slog is nothing much when thinking of the rest of his life.
