I'm getting a budgie soon so I'm preparing, but I'm not sure what cage to get! I've been looking at the Hagen vision 2 cage, but I'm not sure if theres better options out there.
the place I'm getting my budgie from has an outdoor aviary and I'd like to keep that theme with its cage, are there any budgie safe plants or such? I want to mimic an outdoor area as best I can, and I'm planning on having all natural wood perches and maybe a little coconut house!
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks so much!

I have a couple of Hagen Visions and they are really good cages. But others prefer different cages.
They all have their drawbacks, with Hagen vision it's cleaning the cage as the base clips on. But on the plus side, the plastic base does stop the feathers and seeds from going all other the place.
The natural wood perches are a great idea. But the coconut house is not necessary and if you end up getting a hen it might make her think of it as a nest and lay unwanted eggs.

Agree with Marianne re the coconut house - prime nesting spot is what that will be seen as. Budgies do not need hiding places in their cage, not even for sleeping. They are quite happy to sleep on a perch. Swings are often viewed as great sleeping spots and can be a source of squabbling between birds, so make sure you have enough to go around.
Any budgie safe plant put into a cage is going to be decimated in less time than you can blink, once they know they can chew on it. A plant small enough to fit into a cage is not going to stand up to the onslaught of a budgie or two. You are better off growing something of a decent size and taking twigs or branches off as you feel the need.

I used to have rats so I guess I'm subconsciously applying the same logic ahaha.
