The other day I was listening as Tweetie Pie was singing softly and he distinctly said "pretty". I was very happy but had to think about that. I didn't realize how often I used the word pretty when talking to him. It sounds like he may be trying to say "bird" but I don't say that around him much. Could it be a combination of the sounds for "boy" and "baby" which I say all the time? I also read somewhere not to whistle at your budgie before he talks or he'll never talk. Anyway I did whistle at him 4 different times yesterday. That's all it took - he whistled back and now does it in his singing. I'm very pleased that he is listening to me and hoping he will be talker.

They'll talk even if you whistle if that's what they want to do. Whistling might be a little easier for them to pick up.
Munchy both whistles and talks, and learnt Peri's chirps quickly. His contact call is a whistle.
