I was just browsing the allpetz website and came across the cage lining paper on a roll that you cut to fit your cage. Does anybody use this? I like the look of it, it looks nice and clean, maybe a bit more hygenic than newspaper? We don't get a newspaper anyway, or even a free one, and I don't really like to use ones donated, because you don't know how clean people are. Maybe that's just me.... What does everyone else think please?

Any paper like that would be fine. Whatever is easiest for you.
I know you can get rolls of craft type paper for kids to draw all over that comes in a big roll too. That would work just as well. I remember seeing some at IKEA, along with a holder thing that braced the roll so it would tear off easily and cleanly.
I'm pretty sure it was like unprinted newspaper rolls.
There are some fancy cages sold in the US that incorporate a roll like this into the bottom of the cage, so it sits in the back and can roll it out and tear off all at once. Peasy.

Thanks Stace, I had been thinking about the paper on rolls generally anyway for a while as kitchen paper blows about everywhere when they flap, it's a bit of a mare really.. you can weight it with toys but that only works until they play with them and then it all goes shooting about!

Understand your concern re other people's newspapers. But what is the cost of buying newspapers against the cost of buying a roll of paper. It may well work out cheaper to buy a newspaper, if only to line the budgie cage. They may enjoy a good read.

Kitchen paper is too small and light, and too expensive long term I feel.
A big roll of unprinted newspaper, or a roll of brown paper would be ideal, if you don't have stacks of newspapers on hand.

I personally like to use newspapers because it is quick, easy to change plus I am technically recycling lol. I have a good supply of newspapers from my dad but I can see how you would feel about using other peoples newspapers. You could always buy a cheap newspaper once or twice a week, the Sun newspaper only costs 30p so its a bargain. How much is the roll of paper on the Allpetz website? Do you have a link?

I go up to Canary Wharf every couple of weeks (or my husband does) and we grab a big load of free newspapers. We get some funny looks but they are free and yes as Rachael says we are technically recycling

We get the odd thing through the door but they are always glossy! I recycle everything anyway, we get heavily fined for chucking the wrong thing in the wrong bin here!! I have no idea how to link to the allpetz site, but the stuff is prevue hendryx cage lining paper in various widths and 7.5m long. I was curious about it, as I'm about to finish my current supply of bird paper and don't want to go back to kitchen paper! That is my emergency only option!!

I use news papers too as I have annual subscription for it. A few newspapers are placed on top of each other. The top ones are removed every day. Once finished, the cage trays are washed before putting clean newspapers.
Despite using everyday, I can't use all so the remaining newspapers go to local pet shop.

I can't believe a purpose made pet supply could be cheaper than a weekly newspaper.
