My BF plays our baby budgie videos so he doesn't feel alone. He does seem happy and chirps along. But could this be confusing and stressful for him?

When Sam was just a little baby and scared when we first got her, budgie sounds on youtube helped to relax her and make her feel less scared. I don't see a problem with it as it seemed to pave the way for taming.

Hi Tammie, the question you asked was "....................But could this be confusing and stressful for him?"
I assume Hezz is replying that yes, it could.
I played budgie sounds once when Bertie was new to me and escaped from his cage. I couldn't get him back so I place my phone inside his cage with budgie sounds and he came right back in. Then I felt guilty that he thought he was returning to friends and there was no-one there. I haven't done this since. Bertie now comes in and out of his cage as he wants to but I think he would be confused by budgie sounds and no other budgies.
I chose to separate him from his flock by buying him, so I see it as my responsibility to replace his flock by spending a lot of time talking to him and playing with him.

Sorry, but I tend to disagree...... Hezz replied "In answer to your THREAD question......in short yes" The THREAD question was "Is it ok to play budgie sounds" to which Hezz replied "in short yes"

As I said (and this is just my opinion) when we first brought Sam home she was too scared to even eat or drink. After 3 days I decided to play happy budgie sounds. She immediately started to eat and drink as well as chirp back. I think that hearing other budgies who were obviously not scared helped calm her. Once she started to bond to us( it only took 2 weeks) we stopped as I wanted her to think of us as her flock but I let her watch Disco the Parakeet. It was these videos that got her to talk. She tells off Disco now but that's a little hen for you..lol. She's beyond tame now and rules the house.

But I still don't play them to Bertie. I worry that he'll get excited and expect to see other budgies but just gets me instead. However, I might not feel so guilty if I find I need to do it again.

I play budgie sounds to some of mine when they are inside. They appear to enjoy it, seems to make them feel safe.

I play budgie sounds to mine quite a lot and they love the sounds, yes sometimes they seem to go looking for where the sounds are coming from but that gives them a nice fly out.

I really didn't think a concise answer could be misinterpreted. I certainly didn't see any need for an explanation.

Thank you everyone. We have had him only 5 days now and he was so quiet and displaced being away from his siblings. Budgie sounds cheer him up. He doesn't seem stressed when he hears them he happily chirps along. But I do want him to bond with us so I think once he feels more settled we will play music instead.
