Hi, I’m wondering about the proper cage size for four budgies. The dimensions are 31 inches wide, 20.5 inches deep, and 53 inches tall with the stand on the bottom. I think it’s big enough for four budgies, but if it’s barely big enough or something like that I will not get more. I want my birds to have as much space as possible and be happy. Additionally, I already have a bonded pair of budgies, Terran and Kalani. I was wondering if I do get more budgies, I would be able to adopt another pair and have them all get along. There’s a rescue with budgies that seem like a great fit for me, I’m going to visit the rescue if I do decide to adopt more budgies. Thanks for the help!

That sounds like a decent sized cage for four budgies. Whether it would accommodate any more would depend heavily on how much out of cage time they have.

Hi, I would not want more than four, and they would be out of the cage nearly, if not all, day on weekends. Then a few hours every weekday. Would that work out?

That should work, but nothing is guaranteed with budgies. You do sometimes get one who needs more space than others. All you can do is try it and see.

Okay, thank you! I have another medium sized cage for the pair during quarantine and when I’m first introducing them, but if the pairs don’t get along, I will buy another large cage for them. Thanks again! I will update if I remember 😂 (if I do end up getting them, it probably won’t be until summer anyways).

I didn't answer your other question - bonded pairs can be fine with others, but the introduction of new birds can sometimes lead to breakups. It is a risk you do need to consider. Some bonded pairs are as solid as; others of a more fickle nature. Just like humans, really.
