Has anyone put antibiotics in the budgie bath water? I know I can't give them a bath without any as they will just drink that instead. It could be a way to get them to drink the medicine in the first place but I'm not sure if it'll be ok for them to actually bath in it though. I wouldn't want it to sting there eyes or anything. I'm not sure if anyone's had a drink today. They are looking at the pot with suspicion and hopping about around it.

My gut feeling is that it should be ok. It may stain their feathers but that could be a worthwhile trade-off to get them to "drink" the water. You could just wait it out and hope they'll get thirsty enough to drink the water. If you float a sprig of an herb they like in their drinking water maybe that will disguise it enough for them to take a drink.

I like your idea with the herb in the water tweetiepiesmom . I shall put a little basil leaf in it.

I wouldn't. Bathing is not so important at this stage. RC needs to be allowed to get back to full health. Budgies do not need to bath every day, or even every week. They are a desert bird; they have not evolved to bath every day, unlike my rainforest bird who must, absolutely must, almost every day.

Thanks Hezz. They rarely get in the water, maybe one time in five. Randolph Carter sometimes likes to wash his face and they all drink it. I was hoping to use the bath as an alternative source of water as they always want to drink the bath water. Plus they won't be able to see the water is slightly brown as the bath is green. And I wanted to make sure it was ok in case anyone decided to get in the water.
