hi, i have two budgies, 4 yr. old Manoo and 5 yr. old Chirpy. They both have the liberty of flying around freely. However, couple of days ago i noticed that Manoo's neck is twisted to one side so that with one eye he is looking up and down with the other. Due to this he has trouble moving from perch to perch and falls down in attempting to do so because i guess he cannot focus. Also he is not able to access food and water dish. Can someone please tell what could this be? Our local pet store guy told us not to go to the vet because they will not be able to do much and still bill us a lot.

Welcome Fauzia, Manoo and Chirpy. I wouldn't listen to the man in the pet shop for one second! Take poor little Manoo to see the vet as soon as possible! If he cannot feed himself in the meantime by getting to the food and water at all you'll have to make sure he doesn't starve. I don't know how tame he is but if you can't get him to take seed from your hand maybe hang a millet spray right next to his beak and give him water off the tip of your finger. To me it seems like this little guy needs urgent medical help. Part of the responsibility of owning any pet is accepting that now and again an expensive vet bill may come along, that is life unfortunately! Very best of luck, please let us know how Manoo gets on. I hope someone with more knowledge on here can give you some more useful advice soon.

Hi Fauzia, Manoo and Chirpy and welcome to forum It can happen to budgies who fell down. Pet shop guys know nothing about budgies. Seeing vet would be a good idea.

Good advice from Sarah there. regarding looking after the poor wee bird. I also agree with BB in that it sounds like a fall or collision. Vet trip needed, I think.
