I think vaccination is not a one-cure-all. Masks and precautions are still required.. It reduces the intensity of the disease though.. They have started commercializing Covid home test kits over here.. Wondering if this is going to be there just like flu..

We are being told that everyone should get a third booster shot 8 months after the second shot. I was talking to my doctor and he thinks everyone is going to need boosters every 9 months. All those shot - depressing! I wonder if its really necessary. A doctor was interviewed on the news and he said he would not rush out to get a booster. The vaccines have all been approved for emergency use and he suggested everyone should continue to be careful, wear masks and wait for more data on how effective the vaccines are against all the variants and see if there are long term effects from them. I think I'll take that advise.

I think I'll take that advise. Every 9 months seems very frequent. Over here, people are carrying on like there hasnāt been a pandemic. There was a festival on last weekend in Cornwall and the numbers are spiking there now due to an influx of people plus the tourists. My daughterās boss is currently at home with Covid. He went to a family get-together of 20 people and 6 left with Covid and 4 with a tummy upset. I wonder if theyāve identified who it was who brought the virus to the party! He has been double-vaccinated too. Thankfully my daughterās test results have been negative. Iād actually quite like some social distancing and mask wearing to return. Even watching the government in parliament on the news, I shuddered at how packed in they were. Iām now waiting to see what happens with the proposed booster here. Itās apparently going to be offered to over 50ās first and there have been reports that if the previous two vaccines were AZ, youāll get a shot of Pfizer and vice versa. Itās coming up to flu vaccine season so hopefully weāll get our invites and hopefully hubby will be offered his booster shot at the same time.

After coming out with no mask required outdoors even in large gatherings, now the recommendation is to require masks at all large gatherings, outdoors and indoors. Some of the companies who put on concerts, etc. are now saying that attendees must show proof of vaccination or you can't get in.

Now it seems we've settled into a routine with the coronavirus and know what we need to do to protect ourselves and it is a matter of waiting until the majority of the world is vaccinated.
I thought it might be interesting to hear what everyone did that they might not have done pre-pandemic. Early in the pandemic when everyone was hoarding toilet paper and the store shelves were empty, I accidently dropped a roll in the wet bathroom sink. Of course, it immediately absorbed the water. I carefully unwound the wet sheets and draped them over the tub rim to dry so I could use them. Not proud to admit that!

My teenage son has been vaccinated. He was fine having it done and suffered no side effects. Despite the government being unsure whether to vaccinate under 16ās, he was offered it due to being clinically vulnerable. They donāt know how long until the second one will be available, literally waiting on government decisions, but itās good to know heās had the first, so thatās all of us and my adult kidsā partners doubly vaccinated. Nevertheless, Iām incredibly cautious. Four friends of my daughterās boyfriend have had covid and heās been through a 10 day isolation to keep everyone safe but thankfully all tests were clear and he didnāt get it. Very proud of the way they handled it as they loathed being apart and it meant he missed a family BBQ but theyāre being as sensible as possible. I donāt think Iāve done anything I wouldnāt have done pre-Covid to be honest. If anything, it has suited my quiet life. Love the careful saving of the toilet paper though tweetiepiesmom. A bit of crinkly paper still does the job.

At my brother tomorrow for lunch, thereās I think 15 of us. Iām not worried Re the adults but the kids have gone back to school. I know we have to get back to some normality but it worries me.
The only thing Iāve done that was different, Iāve over eaten so much and walked less - so not ideal lol.
Glad your son was ok Ariella and love the toilet paper story lol

It seems many of us have eaten too much of the 'wrong' foods and sat around too much.

It seems many of us have eaten too much of the 'wrong' foods and sat around too much. Guiltyā¦and still guilty! Today I baked an apple and sultana loaf cake. I didnāt just have one sliceā¦or twoā¦

My problem was compounded with not being able to walk for ages. Now Max is here, plus how hot it is at the mo, Iām still not walking.

ffiscool I so identify! With my severe scoliosis and back surgery not too long ago, I'm not moving well and certainly not fast. And yes it seems we've had more hot days this year than we've had before. I'm definitely not a fan of the heat. We just do what we are able.

My life has been changing a lot since just before Covid, and then during as well! The short summary is I was in Ecuador working as a birding guide in the Amazon and then I did a two month bird banding intensive in the Choco rainforest on the coast. I had just come back to the states, Southern California, staying with my mom temporarily, and was studying to get my TEFL certificate so I could teach English online,. I also used to do Acroyoga on the beach in Santa Monica every Saturday and then get dinner and go salsa dancing with friends after. When I finished my TEFL certificate I went to visit friends in Northern California where I had gone to school, and reconnected with a particular good friend, who I ended up moving in with when Covid struck - now my partner. The last place I wanted to be in the middle of a pandemic was in LAā¦ Between reconnecting with him and Covid, Pig had flown into my life, so she came with me of course! And I had two internships lined up with the California Wildlife Center and afterwards with the Mono Lake Conservancy, which both got cancelled. So now Iām a homebody who spends all her time gardening again, researching bird genetics and nutrition, and raising chickens xD I definitely get a lot less exercise than before, but I guess Iām still moving at least. So much has changed. I still want to do the CA Wildlife Center internship, but I am also considering going back to do a masters in avian science - focusing on genetics and nutrition. Besides the cost though, Iād have to study hard for the GREā¦ So I havenāt made a firm decision yet. This fire is now throwing me off a bit again. Weāre under āmandatory evacuationā so we canāt leave or else they wonāt let us back in - but the fire has already passed us! šš So thatās my life in a nutshell right now. Covid changed everything. Some things for the better though, I have to admit. Though I do feel a bit derailed professionallyā¦

Gosh Morgan what an interesting life you have. I actually went to a department store yesterday, the first time since it all began, it was 9.05am so nobody about and didn't have to wear a mask. I also went for a meal with friends on Saturday and for the first time going for lunch today with my coffee friends who I have only see once, in person, in 18 months. We do face time every week. I am not one for going out and about so quite happy at home crafting. The only thing I really miss is my holiday to see friends in Lanzarote and going on a cruise. I just want to go and dance the night away and drink gin!!!!
