Love the Woodside Hotel samwiseg and the sedums too. Don't they spread quite easily? You may end up with an array like the garden centre too! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip out but I know what you mean about it being exhausting. Just thinking about all of the things I've touched like the car door handles and keys not to mention food packaging etc makes my head spin. We tend to get to the point where we go a bit stir-crazy at home and decide to head out to the shops and once we are there we realise that it's not worth all the stress and bother and better avoided if possible! Plus the fact I am often heard muttering 'I miss Willow, can we go home now?' I love the cottage garden type plants too blue48. We have snapdragons and lupins and someone kindly gifted me some red hot poker cuttings last week - I was disproportionately excited about that . We are lucky that a lot of the local gardeners offer cuttings and seedlings when they split their plants, in fact I think that's where our sedums came from. The garden is still a bit wild though, nothing like all of your beautiful plots

Am sorry blue48 I didn't mean to make you jealous! I do go on about our garden a bit because ever since I've moved out of home (approx 20+ years) I have never had a garden until we moved into this flat, so feel compelled to talk about it! Hopefully jellybean, we shall have ladybirds in the bottom where the pine cones are, butterflies in the box with the vertical slit, solitary bees in the cane holes and anything else which requires a bed for the night! Yes sedums do grow easily and spread well. Have been researching them and you can prune them or divide them if they get too big in spring. I love that they are not just good for the insects because after they have gone over for the year the birds like seed heads. Amazing. Win win in my opinion! I'm glad its not just me stressing out when we come back home from going out willowsmum. As you say, you have to wipe everything down (including yourself) and i think it makes your brain tired! The sooner we get a vaccine for this blasted virus the better.

"I miss Willow, can we go home now" We went out on Monday to Prestwick, a nice little town about 50 minutes drive from us, it was lovely just to walk along the sea front, but ALWAYS when I'm away I can't wait to get back to see the boys. So I totally understand what you're saying willowsmum 😉

Sounds like a lovely day out jellybean. I love to see the sea, we've had many a nice day at Ayr and North Berwick. Now there's a thought.....

I love the sea too. We walked along the front to the farthest point and sat on the wall listening to the water lapping on the shore.....It was heavenly.

I also get stressed about being out in shops etc. Today I walked into the main shops, through a lovely park. Took about 50 minutes each way. Went to hobby craft, re sanitised my hands when I came out. I’d been indoors for days, so forced myself. Hobbycraft wasn’t too busy, so it was ok.
I normally wipe shopping down but I’ve not done it every time of late.
It’s all so whatever....

Noooo samwiseg, I love looking at all your gardens. Yes, I'm envious but I chose to move here because I could not manage my garden which was pretty big. Of course I miss it as somewhere to sit outside, and really missed it during lockdown, but I have a huge field on my doorstep and a lovely nature reserve for walking, with primroses and bluebells in the Spring

Just a quick trip to and from the supermarket tires me out too, it's all the sanitising before, in the middle and after I think that wears us all out!!

I agree Shirls. I was thinking about it and realised it's the shops and shopping that stresses me out. We had a lovely trip out yesterday in the Borders, beautiful sunny day, riverside walk and collected a huge bunch of seeding grasses for Willow as a 'please forgive me for being out for a few hours' homecoming gift. Not having to stress about masks etc was so nice.

I’m going to start going to supermarkets, been getting shopping online but it definitely costs me more as trying to get to the minimum spend. But leaving my job at the end of September, so will have to be more careful
I’ll probably do online every so often for heavy stuff
Only good thing about wearing a mask, soon it will be quite nice, when it’s colder out

I've been quietly enjoying reading/looking at everyone's gardens and short excursions out. We are still in semi-lockdown here and only essential stores are open and outdoor dining. Sat and Sun were brutally hot here - outside at my house it got to 100F (37.7C) on Sun. Mon a heavy fog rolled in and stayed most of the day. It was still warm but also very humid so uncomfortable, 78F (25.5C) and 72% humidity. The neighborhood hawk was hanging out in the morning on the power lines for about 3 hours. Normally he's only there for a short period of time. Maybe he heard Tweetie Pie and Buddy and was wondering where they were?

Hope it's cooling off a bit for you TPM. I would find that sort of heat hard to cope with. The hawk is beautiful but you'll need to keep your windows closed in case he gets any ideas

Lovely hawk but as willowsmum said, keep the windows closed. I assume you have some sort of air conditioning tweetiepiesmom?? I bought an air cooler since we've had all this hot weather, it is brilliant!

Not to worry everyone - my babies are safe! I have good strong screens on all my windows. Yes, I do have an air conditioner. I don't like to use it because I prefer fresh air and its also expensive but worth it this past week. Its been very hazy this week due to all the raging wild fires around us. When you live in the LA area, you just contend with that every year. This year the fires are worse then ever. They've had to bring in firefighters from all around the US to help. We also lease a couple "super scooper" helicopters from Alberta, Canada to drop water on the fires. Hopefully they'll get them under control soon.
