I really hope the fires are controlled soon TPM, that must be very scary for you, being so close.

Thank you willowsmum. A lot of the fires are in the national forest but some of them are burning down houses. One major fire broke out when someone was having a gender reveal party (against covid regulations), set off a pyrotechnic display and many houses have burned down. I feel bad for those who have lost their houses to the fires.

Oh no TPM. Some people are so thoughtless and the consequences are immense

One cannot imagine what it would be like to be in that situation losing your house with everything in it, to a fire or whatever. I feel so sorry for those people and hope the fires are brought under control very soon.

The fires are beginning to come under control. The largest has about 35% containment now. The wind has shifted coming in from the ocean which is starting to clear up the air. This morning when I cut the budgies some grass and basil, I ran it under the water long enough to make sure it was clean from any soot and particles.

tweetiepiesmom that's good to hear - the fire's being gotten under control. I hope the air stays clean & fresh with the wind. I went out on a mini-forage in a local park this morning for the boys' greens & some fresh air. I went on Gladys, my bright pink bicycle - I feel like a geriatric Barbie but it was the last lady's bike in the shop, I can't get astride a gent's bike). I'd bought a cappuccino, then sat under a hedge for a while to get out of the wind. A couple of dog walkers came around the corner, "G'mornin'! I'm just gathering dandelions & grass for my family." Neither even raised an eyebrow, though the dogs looked at me a bit gone out. Ah, such is Covid-19 effect

One good thing about fall/winter is that the sunsets are beautiful! Sunset on Halloween.

Picked this up from the garden centre, quite cheap but pretty. It can also go outside

I recall how even a short walk can take ages with a toddler Marianne Marlow, so many puddles to splash in and interesting bits and bobs to pick up I don't miss being frozen stiff in a playpark while we had 'just one more go on the swings' Looks like a gorgeous evening for a walk though.
