Ozzy lost his little friend Bart last week and as some of you may know hes been feeling sad I hated the thought of leaving the little fella on his own while we out all day so yesterday (with Barts approval I like to think ) I got Ozzy a little friend. Her name is Poppy and shes olive green/grey. Shes a sweetie Its taking a bit of time to get used to the cage set up - shes very acrobatic and likes hanging and swinging on things and misses the perch on several occasions. Not very vocal as yet but Im sure Ozzy will encourage her. Whilst moving a perch yesterday evening she sat (albeit it briefly) on my thumb - so Im hoping that I may be able to tame her quite quickly Shes been eating millet and knows where her seed is so hopefully she'll soon feel at home. Ozzy seemed a bit bemused at first but is getting used to his young companion. Hes even shown interest in his grit pot for the first time since Bart passed. Anyway betta go and check to see what they're up to Uncle Bart and all my late budgies are keeping an eye on us and I hope that they approve xxx Hawk (Marcia)

So happy for the little guy. You did the right thing for Ozzy, I reckon.

Poppy is a pretty name for a budgie. Don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but don't forget quarantine. Poppy should be kept apart from Ozzy for a month to ensure she isn't bringing any nasties into the house that could be harmful to Ozzy. After that time you can put their cages close together so they get to know each other, and gradually give them time out of the cage to get to know each other. If they get on fine, then they can share a cage.
