After having a discussion with my friend about it the other day I was wondering what other birds you can mix with budgies in a none breeding aviary safely? And also your views on this?

iv had budgies /canarys and finches with no problems ...untill i put up breeding cups for my canarys ...then the trubble started... the budgies would reck the nests...... plus reach in and bite the feet of my canarys ... but all was good when i took the cups back out ... i hope this helps.........

I haven't done so But I know Barrie advises against this.
Mick is right, some non breeding birds may survive together as it depends on individual bird personalities but breeding them together would be a disaster.

my late father had a large open aviary with 36 nest boxes in the main shed flight ,plus around the same wicker pouches and finch boxes,he kept budgies, java sparrows, diamond doves, and a variety of finches ,all kept together and left to breed freely,he did have the odd casualty ,but we all have them, they all bred during the year ,i will add the shed was flight was 10ft by 5ft and the outside flight was 12ft by 9ft tapering to 4ft so they had plenty of room to avoid each other
