Hello Everyone,
The first time, I've got a bird. Almost, It's been three weeks now. Looking for assistance for my two cute budgies Ramob & Kiwi diet. So, let me tell you a little bit more about the routine and daily life.
In the first week, I noticed that they were adjusted with food, water, and cage very quickly. Both were chirping, playing each other, and with toys all day. When they are playing, I like to watch them all-day . I'll be more careful about their diet and providing them seeds that I bought if from pet smart - Kaytee - Forti Diet (Pro health) & Vitakraft Crunchy Sticks. They liked it ! Later I thought that I should give them some natural and organic food. So, I started giving them Dr. Harvey Natural/Organic seeds, and I ordered from amazon.
In a week of 2nd, it's very critical for me. Kiwi suddenly starts pooping just white liquid, losing her appetite, and not playing with Rambo. Rambo also sounds very down. As the day run, Kiwi looks more nervous and sleeps very carefully with Rambo. I am very proud of Rambo that he is supporting Kiwi and leaving her alone at all. By the evening, Kiwin is sitting on her one leg for more than 10 mins, keep pooping in white, and not eating at all. Immediately, I called Exotic bird hospital and discussed all the symptoms with them, and they are ready to take them in an emergency. Explain all the signs to the doctor, and she started the treatment for my budgies. Dr did all the required tests and X-rays, and Dr found Kiwi is suffering from Chalmydiosis health issue. Rambo just starts getting infected with the same health issue. But Kiwi is highly infected than the Rambo. Eventually, Dr began to treatment for both and kept for two days under the observation in the hospital. I was distracted and worried about them. They are tiny. May be Kiwi (3months), and Rambo are around 4-5 months. But I'm glad that they are in safe hands now. Of course, I don't have many options and should wait for two days. On-time I'll be following up with them to check how they are doing? Dr. said they are doing well after medication, and this is a pervasive health problem for them. Because they are in leaving in one cage might they got from others' birds.
So, I've to give them 30 days Pam oil and some calcium drop to both of them plus every week follow up. I can see that medication works very well for them, and they are again active, playing each other.
Here are few questions:
- Dr also recommended that seeds are not ideal for their health. However, they gave me some sample seeds for Harrison & ZuPreem Pellets and Sees. My budgies don't like that pellets and seeds at all. But they said this diet is not good. So, I start giving Dr. Harvey's seeds. www.drharveys.com/products/birds/331-our-best-parakeet-blend-natural-food-for-parakeets They love Millets a lot. I need your help and suggestion to choose the right seeds that they like it. Is this bad for budgies?
- My budgies are not eating any fruits or green veggies right now. I'm offering every day different fruits and vegetables to know which one they like.
- After this hospital visit, they have six weeks of antibiotic shots remaning. However, they seem to be less active than before. Anyone has had experience like this?
Also, please share with me some more tips that I can take care of very well, and they feel more comfortable and happy. I'm also working with them to come to my figure but to have lots n lots of PATIENCE!
