Hi, My name is Sarah
I joined this forum to learn more about budgies and more about breeding budgies which I'm thinking I might do in the future.
I have 3 Budgies:
Kirby- female
Charlie- male
Daisy- female
Kirby and Charlie are both about 1 year old.
I got Kirby in March 2011 and Charlie in June 2011...
I hand tamed them both and they live in the same cage, they used to live in seperate cages because I had Kirby first, then Charlie went into Quarantine and they slowly got introduced and became friends they now can never be apart
I've only had Daisy for a week!
I work in a pet store and Diasy got brought back by her owners that had previously bought her, I don't think she was with them long and don't know what happened to her while she was there, but they brought her back sayings she couldn't fly.
So of course we took her back but couldn't sell her... it doesn't happen often but if there is something wrong with a bird or we think it is sick we can't sell it and try to find it a good home where they will care for it..
I've taken 3 budgies at one point with bad scaly face, treated them for a month and then rehomed them to a friend with a budgie aviary.
I decide to take Daisy home because she was so scared and I felt so bad that she had been moved around and frightened
She has settled in great here she has her own cage and will live by herself because I wouldn't trust my female Kirby to be nice to her and share her boyfriend Charlie
I'm really hoping Daisy's tail feathers will grow back, I've started taming her and so far she will eat some millet while I hold it but doesn't like being touched... but she is becoming lots more confident in her cage
When her quarantine is over and when her feathers are grown back she will be introduced to Kirby and Charlie for play time outside of the cage.
I know you're not meant to keep one budgie alone but she isn't really alone, yes in her cage she is but she has Kirby and Charlie to chirp to and hopefully play with outside of the cage
I'm hoping to learn lots from this forum
