So I was sleeping yesterday night but my mom woke up at 1 am to find my birds running around the cage. I don't really know if its normal or if I should do something about it. We checked the internet and it says that there might be little fleas on the birds that are bothering them. I am doing a full wash of thier cage today just to make sure. I'm thinking maybe they had a bad dream or something that woke them up aand they almost fell off of their perch? But maybe I'm wrong. I'm really worried about my budgies heath and am wondering what I should do if there are minature fleas and how to identifie them. Apart from last night's running around for 20 min or so they have been behaving normaly. Blueberry is female but has no sign of eggs and they are both a ryear old. Anyone got any ideas?
Edit: sorry, I lied about thier behavior not changing. Oops. I just noticed now that Lemon is making a wierd noises. Its really hard to describe, kinda licke a chicken or a turkey. Also my dad came down and said he was there. He said that my birds were flying for longer periods of ti e than usual. Like 20 to 30 sec. They would take breaks in between and then go again. Every time the flight would be less and less intense until its finally stoped and they went back to sleep. Hope this helps...

Sometimes our birds have what we call 'night frights' luvmybirds. Something sets them off and they fly all round the cage, sometimes banging into things, and sadly they can hurt themselves. Perhaps they had done this, then settled and then decided to run around the floor. Do you put a cover over them at night time? If they have no cover and they can see they will move around anyway.

Yes I do put a cover on them when they sleep Shirls. My mom took the cover off to see what was going on and to give them some light. And they were not running around on the bottom of the cage, they were jumping from perch to perch realllllllllyyyyyyy fast. Thanks for the advice anyways!

You should just lift the cover gently if you hear them dashing about like this, talking to them gently at the same time, as lifting the cover off straight away scares them even more in the night time.

I remember my Nan telling me she once heard Munchy during the night, then experienced it myself with Peri. Just lifted the corner of the cover slowly and put the light on in the adjoining room so that he could see where he was. The hilarious part was that Munchy was still perched as if nothing was happening. I think he was still asleep but it was hard to tell because he slept with his eyes open. Only happened the once with either of them.
