Is it normal for one bird to look and feel thicker than another, even though it weighs less? Cypress, my teal baby, varies in weight.. typically 33 grams but sometimes pops up or down to 34/32 on certain days. Citrine, my green, is always a steady 34. They have weighed in this way since day one with me and are 2 months old now. But lately I've noticed Cypress looks .. fatter.. than he did when I first got him. He feels thicker/denser too. I started comparing then more.. Citrine generally looks more slender and moves more gracefully. His chest or belly never brush his legs/perch the way Cypress' do. Cypress weighs less than him but sometimes does things like lean on his tummy to nap, and has always been a bigger eater. They both fly around the house together so should have roughly the same amt of exercise, but if given a choice Cypress will hoist himself up or hop rather than flutter to a place like Citrine does. Basically just kind of.. acts fat. Is this another thing I should watch/worry about? I keep trying to add a picture, but it's not loading. imgur.com/a/T4LX6Oq

Yes, they can all look a little different. If you have any worries about how they are looking or acting it might put your mind to rest to have them given a wellness chick over every six or 12 months.

I wish I could just go ahead and get them checked every month I don't think the vet would like me. I'm trying to wait till they are about 6 months for a wellness check since I already took them once. If you see this, I have one more question - what do you think about them eating less than a tablespoon of food a day each? In preparation to go back to work next month I wanted to make sure they are eating a good ratio of pellets (since they will only get fresh food/seeds available twice a day instead of their current 3-4 times a day). Anyway.. the zupreem pellets recommend giving 2 tbs per bird per day, which would be 4 tbs total a day. I'd expect they would eat like 3tbs total and kick around/waste the rest. But I'm finding they actually only eat 1.5 tbs total (both of them together). Weight is good and poop is normal but .. it seems odd that the reality is sooo much lower than the recommendation.
