Hi, I’ve recently noticed that my budgies vent is getting badly blocked up, all of her poo just sticks to the bum, I’ve started checking every day and it seems every other day it happens. The only thing to get rid of it is Luke warm water and a cotton wool ball. Just unsure of the cause. She has a good diet, mixture of seeds and fresh fruit and vegetables. She does have quite thick feathers- if this could be causing the problem? Our vets is only taking emergency appointments right now with lockdown so unsure whether or not to take her as I know a trip to the vets are very stressful too? Any advice welcome

If the vent is blocked then I would class that as an emergency, please phone the avian vet and ask advice.
What do the droppings look like that are getting stuck, are they normal looking?

Yes I’ll ring the avian vets and seek further advice. The droppings look normal, I can’t tell if she’s blocked up or if they’re just sort of stuck to the area. Either way I’ll ring the vets and get some more information, thanks for your advice!

Does this happen during the day or at night, and how does she perch when this happens? Often it can simply be that the bird is sitting on a flat perch, or lying down, so the poop doesn't fall away as it normally would if the bird was perching on a branch. If she is lying down, why is she lying down? There might be another issue to be dealt with as well.
