Hi there, I have a 5 yo Budgie boy named Zeus. I recently took him to the vet cause he was looking quite sick. He was puffed up, sleeping all day, eating much more and generally inactive. We went to the vet and he said that Zeus has a tumour but wasn’t quite sure so I needed an x-ray. Turns out it is $260. Right now, I’m not able to, I take him to a vet 10 minutes away from that aren’t really avian vets but say they still work with birds. I’ve been going there every year for 5 years and they said nothing was wrong and they charge me $108 for those wellness exams ($216 because I have two birds). Well I took him in April and they said he’s fine and took him recently to the avian vet and they said it’s been growing for a long time (tumour). As of now I don’t really know what I can do because I cannot pay $260 right now, especially when it’s just an x ray and this visit cost me $134, just for the checkup and vitamins that they recommended. Are there any other suggestions? How to keep him feeling better right now? (It’s a lipoma on his breastbone). Thank to those who are able to answer.

I'm so sorry, poor Zeus sounds very poorly. I have no experience of your budgie's problem so will leave your question for others to answer.

I'd believe an avian vet before any other. I don't understand your "just an xray" comment. An xray can tell a physician a lot about what is happening inside a body. As you have consulted an avian vet, I don't know quite what you expect from us.
