Hello, so my boys are currently on a mixed seed diet that came with them when I rehomed them. I have more recently found that they should be on a pellet diet? If this is correct can I please have some advise on moving them over onto a new food. Aswell, any good bird food brands would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Our British members will be able to tell you what brands they use. Pellets are not good budgie food in my opinion and in that of many other members and Australian vets. They are not specific enough for budgies' needs. Not only that but converting a budgie to pellets is not easy. You are better off aiming to include lots of fresh veg and some fruit into their diet and either sourcing or growing your own sprouts or seeding grasses.

Haiths is good seed. The challenge is then introducing them to plenty of fresh veg and fruit for the nutrition that’s missing from the seed. Hanging it, clipping it, chopping it up in a bowl, etc, in their cage and they should eventually explore it, probably try to play with it like a chew toy, and then decide what they think is tasty. You can try eating the same veggies you’ve offered them in front of them too. There’s a list of budgie safe fruit and veg pinned on this board.
