We have a cage with a few budgies, one has got scaly face mite which we're treating.
Is there any way to mass distribute it for the others? They're not trained so they don't like being caught.
I'm in Australia and have Vetafarm Avimec, but it only says to use topically.

How many budgies are you treating? You might look into getting a treatment called S76. It can be added to drinking water to treat multiple birds. Direct application is still best for birds with active infestation, since the topical treatment is more concentrated and effective. It is also recommended to treat the environment with a permetherin-based insecticide at the same time, to help break the life-cycle of the mites and prevent reinfection. ladygouldian.com/S76-air-sac-mite-treatment

If you were talking scores of budgies, then I might think about some other way of treatment, but as you say you have a "few" I would not rely on any other treatment but the Ivermectin. It is the most straight forward, most effective way to rid yourself of these parasites. The bird that is obviously infected with need three applications, each a week apart. If the others aren't showing any signs of infestation you should be safe to give them only the one precautionary dose, but be prepared to give more if any others begin to show visible signs. Also give the cage and all furniture a good clean on the days that you give treatment.
