My parakeet has hurt her leg again and we’ve made an appointment with the vet. In the meantime, can we put cayenne pepper in her water? I heard that it is a natural pain killer for parakeets. I bought it and noticed it was spicy, is that ok? Finally, how much should I put in her water? Many thanks to all

Yes, you can put it in the water - as much or as little as you feel is right. I have used the handle of a teaspoon as a measure for 100mls of water. It does settle out as it will not dissolve properly, but a mix around every now and then does work okay. If you feel she is in quite a lot of pain, you can mix some with water into a paste and pop a little blob under her tongue.
