@birdlover123 - It is best in this situation (in my opinion), to wait until a better quality pet shop has budgies back in stock, rather than support one which does not care about it’s birds. Any shop with sick budgies may make your own budgies sick too if you bring one home - hence why quarantine is so important. I would wait before getting another bud if you are planning on it

It's been 4 months since my Bella died. Went to petshop today and bought new Budgie called Monty. The Budgies being sold was described as Exhibition budgies and my budgie has a ring on his leg. When i bought Monty the shop assistant wanted to know my name and address, not sure why as i wasn't asked this at the last petshop.

Congratulations on the new budgie! Hope you'll post pictures of Monty soon and tell us more about him.
Most stores that ask for your name and address (did they ask for your email also?) will use that for advertising purposes. They may be mailing you ads for sales, etc at their shop.

I've had one pet shop require me to sign a ledger to record what animal I bought, my name and phone number, in case they needed to get in contact with me, I guess for instance if they found out that there was something contagious among their stock.

I remember something similar was happening when I got my budgies back in May. Apparently there was a "craze" going on and budgies were selling almost as soon as they arrived at the stores; I had to go to quite a few PetSmarts and Petcos before I finally found one with at least two. It was real frustrating to say the least.

Since i got Monty from the pet shop, he seems to spend most of the day at the bottom of the cage eating. Never known any of my previous budgie's to eat so much. Maybe he didn't have much food at the pet shop, as he was in a large cage with about 15 other budgie's. He's making up for lost time, stays very close to his food bowl most of the day. Then in the evening goes to the top perch before going to sleep.

Could Monty be very young still? If he is and hasn’t had much flying practice either, he may feel more comfortable staying near the ground where his food is, and only go up high to sleep at night, again for safety reasons! Have you let him out much yet to see where he’s at with all that?
