Might as well put this here too: tweetiepiesmom: Here’s the gang today! It’s harder to get a clear shot of them all together when they’re spread out, but they decided to all mostly rest in this cage for a bit earlier. Xephy is on the curtain rod singing his little heart out. Lottie is grooming herself on the swing (she’s a linnie though). Chopper is playing with the spirally cardboard and finger trap toy I made for them! The others are singing and grooming themselves and eating interchangeably haha! I’ll try to get some shots of them during millet time too! I always forget to grab my phone/camera when I’m actually interacting with them because at that time the last thing I’m thinking about is photos xD So all their pictures are pretty uneventful - just them posing and being beautiful or playing with something on their own >.<

Love the gang! The little lone guy singing on the curtain rod is cut - I can see his little cheek feathers all puffed out while he sings!

Topsie is starting to turn turquoise! So maybe he is a sf yf type 2 after all. I was thinking type 1, but if his face becomes a brighter yellow and he keeps replacing his cobalt body feathers with turquoise then he’s actually type 2! This is exciting, I can’t wait! post a pic

ffiscool - He’s becoming very pretty indeed! It would actually be pretty cool if he didn’t go all turquoise, but just had patches of it a single factor will do that with any of the yellow face mutations. If he IS type 2 he’ll look like an opaline version of my boy Goat, which would still be cool, because the mat turquoise color is so pretty. Goat’s sister, Monkey, is type 2 yellowface, so the yellow doesn’t spread much through her body, but she does have little patches of bottle green feathers here and there. Actually, this is interesting... I thought Topsie was Cobalt, but hens turning turquoise so far, not bottle green. Is he actually sky blue? The only other sky blues I have are either yellowface or diluted by greywing and somewhat by clearwing. Maybe because he was a baby the color was just very dull...? Anyone have any ideas? Maybe yellowfacedviolet - if you’re still on here these days? Do you know? Sorry for the ramble, that only just popped into my head.

From what you describe and what the photos suggest--on my monitor, anyway--he appears to be a violet sky, which are often mistaken for cobalts.

I never thought I’d even seen a violet budgie in person yet. 😅 I guess I’ve just never seen a violet cobalt budgie in person. Thanks so much for your input! I’ve got to read up again on violets now. :3
